In 2002/03, Suzan-Lori Parks wrote a play a day for a year. The result of 365 plays, one to be performed daily for a full year cycle by groups from across the world, each producing a week-long cycle of plays in unique ways ranging from guerrilla theatre and coffeehouse readings to full productions. Theatre Yes performed seven of the short plays, one several times daily, in Winston Churchil Square during the Works Festival.
Suzan-Lori Parks plays include Topdog/Underdog, Fucking A, Imperceptible Mutabilities in the Third Kingdom, The America Play, Venus, and The Death Of The Last Black Man in the Whole Entire World. Ms. Parks is a MacArthur “Genius Grant” winner and was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for Topdog/Underdog in 2002.
